#03 (English): Immigrant Family Separation
In this episode, Silvia shares her experience with family separation, the importance of higher education, and learning to be independent in college. Her youngest son makes an appearance on the episode - you will hear him in the background.
Silvia Orellana is a mother of 4 energetic boys and a Cybersecurity Specialist in the government sector. She immigrated to the USA in the 90s. Her family set roots in Montgomery County, MD. Presently, she lives in Northern Virginia - as it is a hub for Cybersecurity careers and opportunities. Silvia graduated from George Mason with a degree in Information Technology and a concentration in Cyber Security. One of her personal missions is to encourage more Latinx young aspiring professionals to join the ever-growing Cyber community.
She is a co-founder and president of Fundacion Puro Peru (FPP), a cultural non-profit. FPP serves the diverse DMV community by organizing interactive events that showcase the richness of the Peruvian culture.
