81 (English): Applied Behavior Analysis Services Available to Children with Vianna Calderon Lopez
Vianna Calderon Lopez, a current student in the Applied Behavioral Analysis Master's Program at Hunter College, has a remarkable journey. As an individual who grew up as an undocumented immigrant, Vianna faced formidable obstacles that demanded not only hard work but also a pursuit of education and the discovery of a suitable career path.
Vianna's upbringing, marked by the challenges of having an alcoholic father, compelled her to step into roles beyond her years — that of an elder sibling and a parental figure to her sisters. Undeterred by the adversities, she pursued her education, earning a Bachelor's Degree from both CUNY Queens College and Hunter College.
With a rich background in the Early Intervention Program, where she dedicated three years of her life, Vianna's passion led her to focus on child behavioral development. Her current research delves into the intricate world of bilingual (Spanish-English) children, exploring language preference through the lens of language acquisition and learning theories.
As a new mother, Vianna has skillfully mastered the art of balancing a full-time job, academic pursuits, and clinical hours when needed. Throughout her journey, she held onto hope and persevered, steadfastly working towards achieving her personal definition of success.
